As Registered Nurses, we are governed by our regulating body, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) — and as practicing cosmetic health practitioners we are also governed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

In recent years, AHPRA and the TGA have been closely watching the cosmetic industry, specifically those promoting health services.

The regulations are constantly changing, and recently, the TGA announced they no longer condone the use of terms such as anti-wrinkle, dermal filler or submental fat injections.

This is because in mentioning these terms, we are referring to Prescription Only Medication (Schedule 4 substances) or goods containing such substances, and this is in breach of general advertising of medications.

Nurses, Doctors and Surgeons of the like are now only to refer to the type of consultation that is being offered at their clinic, rather than the therapeutic good itself.

Consumer transparency, safety and adherence to all current regulations and practices is of the utmost importance to Sisä Skincare.
